Affiliation and CBCS Pattern

The college is affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem with Choice Based Credit System(CBCS) and follows the semester pattern with mandatory extension activities, Yoga, Value education and Soft skills. All programmes leading to degrees awarded by the Periyar University on successful completion of academic requirements as prescribed.


Curricular Programme


Each academic year consist of two semesters. The odd semester starts from June to November and the even semester from December to April . There shall be not less than 90 working days for each semester.  
The main subject of Study for Bachelor Degree Courses shall consist of the following: 


PART - I (Tamil/Hindi/Telugu/kannada/Urudu/French/Malayalam) 
PART - II (English) 
PART - III (Core Subjects)


* Students pursuing  B.Com/ B.Com. (CA)/ BBA/ BCA/ HMCS will have Language and English in the first and second semesters only.

* Students pursuing B.Sc. Computer Science/ Biotechnology etc will have Language and English in the first four semesters.

  3. Value Education (Yoga)


Part-V Extension Activities


A Candidate shall be awarded a maximum of 1 credit for compulsory Extension Service. All the Students have to enroll in NSS / YRC/ RRC in the college and put in compulsory minimum attendance of 20 hours which shall be duly certified by the Principal of the college every year. If a student lacks 20 hours of attendance in the First year he/she shall have to compensate the same during the subsequent years. Literacy and Population Education Field Work shall be compulsory components in the above extension service activities.




During the course of study, the evaluation of candidates is based on both Internal for 25 marks (Unit test, Attendance, Assignment and Seminar) and External for 75 marks .
